Meet the Principal

 

Welcome to Haven Elementary! I am Mrs. Tara Cheeks, and I am honored to serve as your principal.

I believe every child deserves to feel loved, valued, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. Building strong relationships with students, families, staff, and our community is at the heart of my leadership because when we work together, children can accomplish amazing things.

Throughout my 29 years in education, I have served as a teacher, instructional leader, and principal in New York, Florida, Mexico, and here in Savannah. This is my 19th year as a principal, my 11th year with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, and I have spent 17 years serving Title I schools. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to helping every child succeed and every school community grow stronger.

I am excited to partner with the Haven community as we build a school where every student knows they are loved, important, and that they belong. Together, we will create a culture where Every Hornet. Every Day. has the opportunity to Thrive in the Hive.
